Houtskär is 100 km from Turku, the main city of South-West Finland. On the way there is three ferry routes (Parainen-Nauvo, Nauvo-Korppoo and Korppoo-Houtskär) with beautiful archipelago landscapes. Usually the sea is quite windy, so have your jacket on to enjoy the views.
There is two busses daily from Turku bus station. If you travel from Helsinki, you might step out at Turku Cathedral stop to catch the Houtskar bus. Check the ”Saaristobussi” lines 902-904. Sometimes there is a bus change at Korppoo ferry harbour (Galtby).
The Islands of Houtskär are known of their traditional sailing and fishing culture combined with modest agriculture. You can make bicycle (rentable at Skagen harbour) or car tours with local ferrie rides (free) to close-by islands of Björkö, Mossala and Saverkeit. Ferry from Mossala to Iniö (Archipelago ring route to Iniö & Kustavi) costs 45€ with a car.
