Summer Retreat Extra - pilates

Summer Yoga Retreat on the beautiful Houtskar Island from June 30th to July 20th, 2025, in collaboration with Astanga Yoga School Helsinki and Skärgårdsskolan Houtskär. Amazing nature, delicious vegetarian/vegan/gluten free meals, sauna every day.

Experience a wide range of Yoga activities that will help you elevate your mind, body, and soul, including Ashtanga Mysore, Led Beginners, New Beginners, Philosophy of Yoga Sutras, Yinful Yoga, Meditation & Mindfulness, Pilates, and more.

Main teachers: Petri Räisänen (week 1-2), Juha Javanainen (week 1-3), Tamara Ashley (week 1-3), Marke Murtomäki (week 3), and Måns Broo (week 1).

Your week starts with an arrival on Monday afternoon between 15:00-19:30, followed by dinner from 18:00-19:30. The opening meeting of the week will take place on Monday evening from 19:15-20:15.

Choose your preferred weekly program from Tuesday to Sunday, with each course including various classes such as pranayama, meditation, yoga lab classes, and more.

RETREAT PROGRAM

Week 1: Astanga Mysore, Astanga Led beginners, Astanga Beginners introductory course,
Yinful Yoga*, Yoga Philosophy with Måns Broo, , Pilates*, Yoga Teens, and Yoga Kids.

Week 2: Astanga Mysore, Astanga Led beginners, Astanga Beginners introductory course,
Meditation to explore elements of personal evolution,
Yinyoga with Tibetan singing bowls*, Yoga Teens, and Yoga Kids.

Week 3: Astanga Mysore, Astanga Led beginners,
Yoga sutra & Mantra chanting, Mindfulness*, Yoga Teens, and Yoga Kids.

Hely Järvinen

Hely graduated from the Teak BA and MA program in 1996, before working as a professional dancer in varied repertoire companies in the UK. Whilst dancing she became interested in ashtanga yoga and Pilates and has been teaching Pilates full time since 2000. She is now the lead Pilates instructor trainer at the Somatic Studio as well as responsible for the Pilates classes at the Opera House Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta and The Uniarts Helsinki BA and MA programs. Hely’s teaching is based on a strong knowledge of anatomy and the latest research on how our bodies are supposed to move from a biomechanical point of view. The guiding principle is to prevent injuries and create ease of movement. This is done by understanding how each exercise connects correctly into the functional muscle chains and fascia in the body. Hely’s work is strongly influenced by her continued study of the Spiral Stabilization® (SPS) method with Dr Richard Smisek in Prague.
