Summer Retreat 7.-13.7. New beginners

Ashtanga yoga course for new beginners. The course offers daily morning classes, where you will leran the basics and methods of Ashtanga yoga practice. Weekly retreat program includes also general yoga classes including philosophy, pranayama, and meditation. Retreat is international, and teaching and meetings are primarily conducted in English.

Summer Yoga Retreat on the seaside of beautiful Houtskar Island in collaboration with Astanga Yoga School Helsinki and Skärgårdsskolan Houtskär. Wide range of Yoga activities, amazing nature and fresh sea breeze, delicious vegetarian/vegan/gluten free meals, sauna every day.

Every retreat week has a special theme with different teachers. We will help you to elevate your mind, body, and soul. Besides of morning yoga practice we have plenty of classes: Breath work/Pranayama, Philosophy of Yoga Sutras, Yinful Yoga, Meditation & Mindfulness, Pilates, and more.

Every retreat week starts with an arrival on Monday afternoon between 15:00-19:30, followed by dinner from 18:00-19:30. The opening meeting of the week will take place on Monday evening from 19:15-20:15.

Choose your preferred weekly program from Tuesday to Sunday. Each week includes various classes such as pranayama, meditation, yoga lab classes, and more.

RETREAT PROGRAM

Week 1: Astanga Mysore, Astanga Led beginners, Astanga Beginners introductory course, Yinful Yoga*, Yoga Philosophy with Måns Broo, , Pilates*, Yoga Teens, and Yoga Kids.
Main teachers: Petri, Juha, Tamara and Måns.

Week 2: Astanga Mysore, Astanga Led beginners, Astanga Beginners introductory course, Meditation to explore elements of personal evolution, Yinyoga with Tibetan singing bowls*, Yoga Teens, and Yoga Kids.
Main teachers: Petri, Juha, Tamara.
Kids Yoga: Laura

Week 3: Astanga Mysore, Astanga Led beginners, Yoga sutra & Mantra chanting, Mindfulness*, Yoga Teens, and Yoga Kids.

Tamara Ashley

Tamara first encountered ashtanga yoga as part of her dance training. She is very inspired by the ashtanga yoga community, her teachers and fellow practitioners. Yoga has been a grounding and positive influence on her dance, performance and teaching career, and has greatly assisted her in injury recovery. Her process of injury recovery also enabled her to explore other styles of yoga, such as restorative yoga, which she developed a passion for. Through experiencing the benefits of the practice, Tamara has felt encouraged to offer restorative yoga as a practice to help students cultivate ease, health and well-being in themselves. Tamara is a certified restorative yoga teacher. Restorative yoga makes extensive use of props to support the body in various configurations that have affects on the subtle body, in particular. It is a deeply relaxing, rejuvenating practice that also offers an accessible bridge between postural yoga and meditation. Tamara often guides meditation following restorative yoga and finds the practices to be extremely complementary to one another. With 20 years of teaching experience in body based disciplines, she focuses on the individual student, and she aims to offer a warm welcoming space to learn and to be. Tamara is curious about the knowledge and potential of the body-mind. She has undertaken studies in process work, somatic practices and developmental movement, and currently teaches developmental movement and anatomy to yoga teachers as a faculty member of Barefoot Body Teacher Training and Enrichment in London. Tamara has also been practicing meditation in the Buddhist Vajrayana tradition, and has undertaken a contemplative teaching course at Naropa University.
